any truth to this ACORN getting money in the bailout?
I've been reading in various places that the Dems have tried to sneak in:
off-shore drilling restrictions (they call it a bill)
banning of shale-oil
and worse, money FOR ACORN
I think what I'm seeing is that the real reason this bill failed is that the Dems tried to load it with pork and ammendments, and the GOP killed it.
Is any of that true, or just the extreme right speculating??

Bill, YES! And I am furious over this! I was listening to Greta tonight on Fox News and she was interviewing Senator Lindsey Graham. It was Senator Graham who reported that ACORN was to get 20% of the funds!!!!!!!!!!!! 20 frickin %!!!!!!!!!!!! That's BILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO A VOTE FRAUD OUTFIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Senator Graham specifically said the funds to ACORN was the #1 reason Republicans were kicking up their heels thank God..
I see this as nothing less than an attempted coup-de-tat by the corrupt Democrat party and a springboard to put Obama into the Oval Office in charge of a socialist state! I am furious over this, can you tell?!??!?

Yes it was a on Greta ..confirmed by Sen Graham. I believe its 20M or 20% for ACCORN apart from the above you have listed. This is what the house repubs want:
No Deal Yet On Bailout; Republicans Want To Ease Taxes On Wall Street
Thu Sep 25, 2008 at 20:02:04 PM EDT
A deal on the bailout is close, but not close enough. Tonight it was announced that Congress is still at odds over a bailout plan, with the House Republicans proposing their own plan:
Still to be worked out is whether to allow bankruptcy judges to modify mortgage terms, a provision backed by many Democrats and community activists but opposed by Republicans and the banking industry.
The bankruptcy provision is not the only sticking point, however. House Republicans are not on board, according to Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio.
"House Republicans have not agreed to any plan at this point," Boehner said.
Instead, they issued a statement of economic rescue principles that calls for Wall Street to fund the recovery by injecting private capital - not taxpayer dollars - into the financial markets. Easing tax laws would prompt investors to put in their own dollars, they said.
The plan also calls for: participating firms to disclose the value of the mortgage assets on their books, ending Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's securitization of "unsound mortgages," reviewing the performance of the credit rating agencies and having the Securities and Exchange Commission audit failed companies to ensure their financial standing was accurately portrayed.
House Republicans also want to create a panel to make recommendations for reforming the financial industry by year's end.
This is a classic conservative Republican move and one that should show the American people their true colors. They want to ease tax laws so that investors would invest more, according to their plan.
Even though I am more democratic in my ideolofy, personally support the plan put forth buy the repubs. i just don't trust extreme left shams like ACCORN/MOVEON

No, could you perhaps express it a bit more clearly?
OK, that's what they mean. The bill doesn't specifically name them, but some housing authority and it appears that ACORN runs that.
Aw, then I guess I forgive the Republicans for throwing a fit. they were looking out for us all
And I read there NEVER WAS an agreement, even though Reid had reportedly said there was and the MSM said a deal is close/in the works, etc. No dice. It was a ruse so they could blame Mac for messing it up.
You can't mess up something that never WAS.

Exact quote tonight from Graham:
Note that Graham SPECIFICALLY mentions 20% would go to ACORN.
GRAHAM: He’s working the phones trying to find a way forward that would protect the taxpayer...and this deal that’s on the table now is not a very good deal...20% of the money that should go to retired debt that will be created to solve this problem winds up in the housing organization called ACORN that is an absolute ill-run enterprise. And I can’t believe that we would take money away from debt retirement to put it in a housing program that doesn’t work.
Note that Graham SPECIFICALLY mentions 20% would go to ACORN.

The leftists in congress are famous for sneaking little things in here and there. that's why bills are always getting vetoed. They always got to put their own spin on things.

Prime example of why I tell my friends, relatives, parents, anyone who will listen - if an ad says "Senator xyz is nasty because he voted against the wonderful bill to help those on social security", don't believe it.
IF they voted against it, it was because that there was something much much worse attached to it - some amendment raising taxes, some pork project, whatever.
So whenever you see where someone voted for or against, ignore it. It's meaningless unless you know what was attached that made them vote that way.

Well, look at Bush: He had good ideas, but they were never executed. The guy was elected for 2 full terms in office, and it was for a reason. His approval rating is so low because our wonderful all-left leaning congress had to slip their own agendas in each bill. Bush didn't like them, so he vetoed them. This made liberals mad (expected) and republicans frustrated. Thus, resulting in his approval rating plummeting. Hell, congress's approval rating is even lower. That speaks volumes.

ACORN---
Part of the bailout. This should never be. I for one am glad John McCain is there. There should be no earmarks at all on this bill. ACORN has been caught all over this country doing inethical things-signing up voters illegally. They should be abolised. Obama is directly involved in this. He should be stopped. In my wildest imagination it baffles me how these people support him.

I contacted both of my idiot Senators and told them that I expected any funds going to ACORN must be removed. I also made a statement about the Dems being idiots. That probably didn't go over. Oh, well.

Re: any truth to this ACORN getting money in the bailout?
I just posted a new Acorn update about this with a video link. The Republicans are refusing to be a part of approving the bail out, in its present form.
Keep encouraging your representatives not to cave in to the RATS who are refusing to quite dealing dirty in this crisis!!

Amazing! Yet the Dems and BO are too quick to blame the Republicans and John McCain for killing this package. Anyone with 2 brain cells should know there is a good reason why they are not agreeing. Leave it to the Dems to try to sneak their pet projects in there. It's totally disgusting! GRRRRRRRRRR
