The market may crash after the Congress vote. I am going to watch it closely. I saw a prediction of a 2-3,000 drop this week if the bailout was not finalized this week. I have never lived through a depression. It will get worse if and when Obama gets elected. As a business owner, I am not very happy.

I'll say this again, I am glad this has apparently failed. If this the immediate crisis that democrats hailed it to be they wouldn't wait for the republicans to come on board to add political cover. There has to be a better alternative.

Another thing. Where in the hell are the nation's leading economists? I see them making rounds with the talking heads but the Congress doesn't seem to interested in listening to them.

Wait just a cotton-picken moment - didn't Pelosi herself say she HAD the necessary votes, all the Dems had to do was vote for it, ALL republicans could vote NO and it would STILL pass?
so, what the heck happened to her statement that she had the votes?

Who would be her and the Dems' scapegoat when the plan comes crashing down?

If the failing does not throw the market into a 2-3,000 drop this week, fine. If it doesn't, welcome Depression 2008-????. And we won't have FDR helping us . . . we will have Obama because McCain will not be elected if we are heading into a Depression.

There's little, if any, guarantee that throwing 700 billion dollars at Wall Street would make a dent in correcting the problem. Congress wants us to give them more control despite the fact they screwed us in the first place.

This is going to give Obama a HUGE advantage. HUGE!!!!! I think this sinks McCain's campaign. No one is listening to Republicans in Congress. All we are going to hear is that the Republicans are sinking our economy. Expect an Obama ad in the next 24 hours pointing fingers at McCain and Republicans. This will not hurt Obama and Democrats.

Congress already has control, and we are in the mess. By killing the bailout, it isn't going to change that Franks, Dodd, Reid and Pelosi are still going to control our pocketbooks.

What we need is an investigation into the corruption. This partisanship is going to kill our economy.

I don't agree with the policy of borrowing money from future generations to fix a problem created in my generation. The national debt has increased 10 times from what it was when I first started voting. We can't prevent a depression by borrowing from people who haven't been born yet.

I disagree. The republicans can play this to their advantage if they will campaign no-holds barred. The people are still against this bill. McCain should come out [b]right now[\b] (after looking at the fine print) against this plan and push for a better solution involving the nations top economist, not power-hungry democrats.

But even if this hands Obama the election, we can't justify making a bad decision for America just because we want to elect the more honorable and qualified candidate.

Killing the market is not going to help us. It is not giving the market a chance to survive.

The partisanship is not helping us. Blasting Pelosi for a speech that she made and not passing a bill to save our economy because of her speech is partisanship at its highest level. I detest Pelosi. A pox on both sides of the aisle.

Do not agree. Listen to the talking heads right now. Obama is going to come out smelling like a rose by just how our media is going to frame this. You know that will happen. Look how the MSM framed the debate. If the market fails, all Obama has to say is "Look we had a deal in place that would have stopped the collapse of our ecnomy. Republicans voted to cause the collapse." You know that will happen. We are now going to be stuck with an incompetent, Marxist-leaning President.

As a business owner, this does not make me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

Cavuto just said that a new bill will be for more money because a revised bill always is for more money.

Democrats are now going to come on TV and blame McCain and the Republicans.

UPDATE: Yep, Democrats are blaming the Republicans and the Bush Administration. Only the Democrats care about you and home ownership. Democrats "extend a hand of cooperation to the Republicans to strengthen our economy." Barney Franks has been very helpful to the negotiations. So, it isn't the Democrats problem . . . the Republicans are the partisan people who have caused all of the problems.

The voters have been bombarding Congress to protest this bailout!! The public does not want them to pass a socialized bill to make voters responsible for bad behavior.

Voting quickly without honest debate is not good legislation. This is no time to cave in to something as ridiculous as the bailout. It is tantamount to blackmail.

America has weathered many hard times & we have managed to come through just fine. Everyone needs to relax & take a deep breath. The market will sell off in panic - but buyer's will soon come in & buy at rock bottom prices. The market has always gone up & down....& will continue to do so.

It all came down to some of the Republicans not liking Pelosi's speech before the vote. It had nothing to do with what the constituents are saying. Now, when companies can't get loans for their payroll if this drags on, the constituents may be changing their tune. When getting loans tightens up trickles down to the street, there is going to be a lot of screaming.

Congress needs to get this fixed. As Cavuto said earlier, this probably is going to cost even more.

The only good thing coming out of this mess is oil is dropping. We may lose all of our investments and not be able to get a loan, but it will be cheaper to buy gas.

Most people today are sure of who they are going to be voting for. I really don't think it is right to just throw in the towel and say it's all Obama's. Of course the media is going to make it that way, don't they always? If the Republicans had gone with this bill fully, and when it goes down the tubes (Since the People HATE it) they would be the ones suffering. Either way its a lose/lose. They know what we do and don't want and the media is doing what they do best-making people think McCain is going under.

I heard that earlier ( I was in school) McCain was campaigning in Ohio and apparently he was quite pissed. His campaign is back on and if he plays his card right he can play all of this to his advantage. It is all in the handling. But people should know that no matter what, the media will always praise Obama. Hell, he could smack a child and get away with it. He's the Messiah, remember (Say, isn't he a key player in helping start this crisis to begin with...Why isn't anyone saying anything about that?) It's their mess, it's the mortgages' mess, and we the people are stuck cleaning it up? And are PRAISING the people who helped start it?

I am not going to shadow doubt over McCain. Screw what the polls and media say, it is nothing of a surprise to me. We need to get Pelosi the hell out of there and put in new people. And I think McCain not going along was a great idea. Not actually speaking his Maverick title, but ACTING so too. Why would he sell himself out to something he doesn't agree with, so to be later pegged with the mess?

Besides, can't they pass this bill WITHOUT the republican support? Why do they want it so bad? Oh, because even 95 Dems said Nay on it. I can't stand Pelosi.

Actually, the Republican leadership is saying that's not correct, it is a rumor that got started.
For one thing, the Dems had more than enough votes. HOWEVER..........
5 Democrat Committee Chairmen voted NO.
Even a sub-committee chair on the banking committee,a democrat under Frank voted NO!
Obama failed miserably, he couldn`t even convince south side Chicago Representatives to vote yes !. B. Rush and J.Jackson jr. both voted NO!

Bi@#$% Pelosi just wanted to cover her big butt by getting most of the Republicans on board. They weren't really needed at all since all the dems were going to vote for it.
40% of the dems voted NO.
