McCain co-sponsored a bill in 2005 to regulate Fannie Mae and warned what would happen if bill did not pass. Dems blocked the bill including Obama

Then in 2005 John McCain co-sponsored the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005.

The Bill was never passed. John McCain addressed the floor on May 26th, 2006. Here is an excerpt:

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.

This bill was shot down by the Democrats and some Republicans in Congress.

John McCain fought two years ago to shield the American people from the crisis some of us are facing.

What was Barack’s vote??

I couldn't agree more. Every newspaper, every online media, every media period and then put it in a campaign ad and blast this over and over. Will it happen? So far not much. Both Rush and Hannity have mentioned it, the AP, New York Times and a few others and everywhere else is just crickets chirping.

Our media is not only partisan and biased, IMO its become downright subversive.

Maybe that's it - maybe that's why I'm so ANGRY this time, so frustrated, so helpless feeling. I think you hit it. That's how I feel. And it's so obvious - I've never seen a year with this much bias in the media, and they seem to be wearing it on their sleeves, like a badge, they are proud of it this year.

McCain was on at least a couple of the morning shows today. Did he bring this up today? Seems like he should be a little louder on things like this and maybe the media would be forced to actually cover it. This is a really big cup of shut up juice that I would personally like to see him serve.

I couldn't agree more. This is exactly the same kind of media blackout we Hillary supporters experienced. When we say we know your pain, believe me, we mean it. I wish I could reach out and hug you. We know the frustration, and we're feeling it again because we love Sarah, too. We know she's a good person.

The media's behavior is a blight on journalism and the republic. Keep on writing and calling and pounding to get the truth out. We're bonding with you as stewards of democracy, and we're working right alongside you, blogging on behalf and in defense of Sarah and McCain every day.

Its the time to unite for the country. we need to be forceful. This information has to be sent to all known media outlets or atleast the newspapers in battleground states like ..OH,MI,MN,PA,CO,VA. It will be great if someone could write an article covering the bill in congress and send it to the editors. Even if it gets a small coverage in any of these states will be a victory in itself.

They were talking about this same thing on Fox News this morning. The BO supporter they interviewed completed dodged the question. Figures.

No wonder he voted against revamp and oversight - he would have lost his cash-cow.

Senator Obama talks a tough game on the financial markets but the facts tell a different story. He took more money from Fannie and Freddie than any Senator but the Democratic chairman of the committee that regulates them. He put Fannie Mae’s CEO who helped create this disaster in charge of finding his Vice President. Fannie’s former General Counsel is a senior advisor to his campaign. Whose side do you think he is on? When I pushed legislation to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Senator Obama was silent. He didn’t lift a hand to avert this crisis. While the leaders of Fannie and Freddie were lining the pockets of his campaign, they were sowing the seeds of the financial crisis we see today and enriching themselves with millions of dollars in payments. That’s not change, that’s what’s broken in Washington.

If this doesn't get out I hope the McCain campaign will buy ads in newspapers. If each state McCain campaign asked for money to put ads like this in the newspapers, the word would get out to the point that it would have to be covered. If McCain is not aggressive, this will go unreported.
