Nice...at least ONE of the candidates is actually thinking of our financial well being.

WOW, the bloggers on MSNBC, ABC and all over are jumping all over this, claiming he only did it because today he's behind in the polls and is trying some gimmick.
Others are jumping saying "why now, why not a week ago, it's a ploy" and it seems that it's like 75% saying "no, don't delay debates" and nearly that many believe he's floundering and just doing this as a trick.
The online reaction is nearly all negative.

I support McCain's decision. McCain is a real leader!

The American people's voice needs to be heard in these negotiations. He is walking the walk and putting "Country First"!

Well, Obama is going to have to leave debate camp and go to Washington. The President told him to get up there. He can no longer stay hidden and may actually have to do something rather than being "present". Basically, the President showed his support for John McCain and showed how little a person Obama actually is.

I don't know if it was really smart, or really really stupid. It's a gamble.
And it's just been made WORSE as now he's asking that the VP debate be postponed and critics are jumping on that like flies to puppy poop. "Palin needs more time to prepare" is the shouts coming now.
"They are cowards" or "He's protecting her again"
McCain has just said that he wants the VP debate to be postponed and the Friday debate moved to that slot next Thursday.
WOW, what a mess, I'm afraid he's just stepped into it and he's got no shoes on.
I've yet to see much support for it, it's running easily 80% negative, and even some who were on the fence are now stating it's all because they are protecting her, she's not ready and it's a ruse.
The blogs and forums are more negative now than I've EVER seen them!

My vote - it was a mistake to suggest that, and the VP debate should have simply been swapped with the McCain/O debate, then they could still go on.

This is getting very nasty, negative press and reviews.

The MSM is working double time to throw garbage on John McCain and Sarah Palin. Obama doesn't need political ads. He has the MSM.

It's a smart move all the way. It shows that he wants to fix this rather than campaign. He is puting his slogan to use and not using them as empty words and promises.
Part of me wonders if the liberals want this mess to increase, as it will make them and Obama seem like "heroes" when comparing themselves to the conservatives who supposedly "caused" all of this.
Think about it: The economy suffers, McCain wants to hold off on campaigning so that he could help fix the "Shituation". They dog him on it, say it is a gimmick and he is simply not prepared. Then, when the economy has reached it's lowest of lows, thanks to people not giving a care about it, Pelosi and her congress friends will pin all of the blame on our current President, saying the same like "See! This is what happens when a republican is in office! McCain will be the same way!" (For people who want change, they sure overuse the same slogan) They will use this as part of their political agenda and also as a scare tactic (Even though their beloved Obama is in the top 4 for supporting Fannie Mae, Hmm..)

As for the argument of McCain not being prepared (I'm not sure if they have actually used this..yet) that would be (if used), and pardon my french, but straight-up bullshit. McCain has offered to debate Obama on multiple occasions and he [Obama] has turned them down. If anyone is not prepared, it is O. And I'll bet you that Obama is now "all up for debating" since McCain has decided to put it on hold. Heh, go figure.

If the MSM really uses that, OMG...I'll go crazy. Or rather, crazier.

All i know is that its a move that only JM could have done. We need to remember that this is a person who was on the jaws of defeat...no money, campaign staff leaving him for dumps, supports a surge when 70% of the general public were against the war and now he is on threshold to be POTUS. You need courage.

JM is the only person in the senate who can get this to move. All support the bailout, The dems, the senate are for changes to the plan, the repubs too but on a different route, the bush administration is against..the repubs are in two minds. we can already see the influence. Bush address mentioned some of them. If the bill passes tomm or by the end of this week ...JM gets the credit if it doesn't because senate dems trying to involve in political bickering the global economy will collapse starting monday. They will be in a spot and might have their respective seats on the line. a win-win situation for JM!

I watched Obama run out & do an unscheduled news conference to make McCain look bad!! He was like a smug, arrogant school boy & proclaimed that he was going to continue campaigning & go to the debate.

He said that people need to hear his campaign speeches so they can decide on who the best candidate is. He's been campaining for 19 months on the tax payer's dime - so if they haven't heard enough about his pie in the sky speeches - then he is admitting his campaign has been a disaster so far.

He has to eat crow now!! The president has called him to get back to Washington to do the job he's getting paid to do...so no campaigning & no debate until the job is done!!

He made a public fool of himself & has to put his tail between his legs & go back to work.

I agree with Bill. I wish McCain would have waited to see what happens first, and take things a day at a time and not think too much into the future. At this point in the game, things are changing and moving so quickly that it's impossible to figure out what will come next. But he did make a great spontaneous move today by postponing Friday's debate in favor of working on a resolution in the bailout mess.

Here is the truly huge problem according to what I have read multiple times tonight. The bailout plan has to be finalized before next Monday. If not, several people are saying it could become an economic Armageddon. This is very, very serious. Congress cannot play politics like this like Obama seems to want to do.

By the way, on another forum, someone posted that Obama was seen on the golf course this afternoon. Guess we know what is important to him. Kind of like Clinton when he was on the golf course when he was told that the military had a bead on bin Laden and could take him out. All they needed was Clinton's OK. However, he was too busy playing golf so he put them off. By the time, his golf game was over, bin Laden was gone and out of shot.

Golf . . . or national security or . . . our economic survival????? Such a big decision!

is comprable to when he was the only one in support of the surge. Another example of how he puts his country first--ahead of politics. He has done this now as he has done it before. I respect the man no matter what party he belongs to. He is literally risking his political future for the love of his country.
